Why Feed Raw

Why Feed Raw

Facebook

There are numerous studies based on the power of raw food diets, commonly known as the BARF diet (acronym for Biologically Appropriate Raw Food’ and ‘Bones and Raw Food’). The ideology is to feed dogs and cats the diet they evolved to eat—a raw diet composed of meats and greens that are fresh, uncooked and wild. It all began with Dr. Ian Billinghurst.

How do I start?

PUPPIES AND KITTENS

At 8 weeks old, they will start to wean off their mother’s milk and can start their raw food diet.

Independent of the animal, a mix of proteins is always recommended. Each protein offers different nutritional values and benefits and keeping your pet loving their food is key. Imagine eating your favourite food every day for the rest of your life? Let’s make it more fun for them too! Variety is important! Choose between chicken, turkey, rabbit, duck, venison, pork, beef, green beef tripe and ostrich.

CATS

As cats are generally fussier eaters, their meals contain no vegetables but include taurine which is one of the main ingredients that is vital in a cat’s diet. Each cat is different and is dependent on weight and energy output. Generally, they prefer to eat at night and should be fed only once a day.

DOGS

Our dog food contains a mix of bones, muscle meat, fruit, vegetables, vitamins and minerals which promote only the best health for your dog.

Based on their weight, size of breed, age and energy levels from daily activity we can calculate the appropriate portions for your dogs. With some monitoring in the beginning, we can adjust and make sure your dog is receiving the correct portion sizes. Dogs on average sleep 16 hours a day but should still enjoy 2 meals a day. This would be different for growing puppies as this increases to 3 times a day.

By sourcing only the best of the raw food companies, I am able to offer an array of affordable and balanced raw meals, treats and training aids. I am constantly bringing in new products, sourcing better ingredients and more affordable options for all pockets.
